- By what name do you choose to be called in the Maidenfear Community?
- Sappho Wolf, or Lupia Atropos Sappho if we're being all kinds of formal
- How do you define vampirism for yourself? There are no wrong answers!
- The universe is made of living energy. It's all around us all the time. We ourselves are creatures of energy. Vampirism is the art of recognizing the abundance of energy and then being able to take that extra energy into ourselves, which results in experiences like greater mental capacities and physical benefits.
- Have you tried to explain your vampirism to others? Any thoughts on this?
- I've been trying actively since 1985--it's how I found my Order and it's how I've helped others find their own vampire self. Sometimes people get it and sometimes they don't. I believe as long as we have a reciprocated live and let live arrangement, non-vampires don't need to understand it. On the other hand, if people should be curious, I think to be straightforward with information is to our benefit.
- Do you consider yourself a solitary vampire or do you prefer the company of others?
- I'm not the lone, introverted, brooding type at all. I flourish in group energy.
- From the viewpoint of a vampire, if you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
- It'd be interesting to see what kind of a world we would have if we all stopped reaching beyond us for the power and the wisdom that is already inside of us.
- What do you want to take away from your Vampires Evolving experience?
- You might think my main interest is to teach. That's an interest, sure. But I'm also in this to learn from others, as existence is a lesson that never ends.
- What do you feel you can contribute to the vampire community both online and in "meatspace"?
- The vampire community has my heart and my soul, my talents and my abilities. I continue to believe that we as vampires are looking into a great future. I want to help waking vampires through their vampire adolescence and into a real understanding of who they are.

I am vampire.
I kneel before no other creature. I am an intelligent animal who has retained my animal intelligence.
This flesh of mine is a gift in which I revel passion and ecstasy, but my lot in the convoluted universal matrix is to exist as a creature of energy. I thrive on the energy of the cosmos around me. That energy exists in many forms. It exists in lifeblood, in psychic forces, in the angry hurling of lightningbolts from cloud to cloud.
This diversity manifests on the earth in the many different and legitimate breeds of vampire which share the world with mortal humans. Knowing my lineage, I seek to mate my personal energy with that of magic and nature as a vital part of my existence. Pounding surf, rustling crisp leaves, magical ritual-all of these empower me, and I take what is offered or what I have made for myself.
As a vampire, I am a natural being part of the natural universe. I am not confined to this plane or this dimension. I am a cosmic being of fluctuating energy. The matter that makes my flesh and flows through my body drifted down from the stars over millennia. My sight and my vision are necessarily wider and broader. Life, death, what are these to me? They dance as close as hungry lovers. This is no two-sided mortal coin but one great continuum.
The impetus of eternity, then, is the power of the vampire. It is my power, and I claim that power for myself.

This is the open and interactive online arena for the Order of Maidenfear, an international network of vampires based in freedom of thought and affirmation of the individual. As a vampire order, Maidenfear is a free society for a free breed, a society of individuals allied as a group. Vampires Evolving is a dynamic resource for real vampires.
